Heeeeeeeeeeeeey.
I figure an update post is due, since it's been over a month since I posted anything non-movie related. I think I've gone into overdrive lately. I keep realizing that I need to take advantage of the freedom I have without kids, the fun friends I have, and how close I live to entertainment.
In the past couple months I've been:
- To Palmdale to visit Ric's grandpa for the day
- To the LA fair with some coworkers and honorary coworkers (an alum and a couple spouses and kids)
- To a fabric store to plot how I'd like to decorate my cubicle walls
- To the Pageant of the Masters gala event
- To see Dr. No on the Fox
- To the tile store to plan for the new flooring Ric and I want for our condo
- To Disneyland (a few times)
- To Arizona to visit the fam out there and hang out with Becky
- To a wedding and a couple birthday parties
- To see Young Frankenstein on the Fox
- To Vegas for the Kings' Frozen Fury game at the MGM
- To the Pantages for Phantom of the Opera with some coworkers
- To a Bunko night at church that was surprisingly fun
- To a lot of stores to prep for a Ladies' Night In at my own place with some lady coworkers
- To Lowe's a bunch of times to buy supplies for the work I'm doing in my parents' den, and to my parents' place for hours and hours of work
Yeah, on that last one - for my mom's birthday, my sister and I decided we were going to paint and reconfigure her den. So far, we've gotten my dad's crummy old filing cabinet out of the room, detached the big bookcase from the wall and repainted it (the bookcase is so old that when we moved it, we realized that they put in new carpet around it the last time new carpet was installed.. which was ages ago), torn down some molding and all the curtains, and started painting the walls. My mom's getting into it, so she'll be buying a few new items for the room. I've spent many hours over there already, but there are many more left to go. I hope we can get it all done by Christmas! I'll be posting photo updates here on FB.
In the past couple months at work:
- We all found out the fate of the Jesus mural - glad the artist doesn't have to see his work removed since a lot of his other works have been destroyed by graffiti
- A couple of us learned a lot about the classroom scheduling job we'll have to do in a few months when our scheduler goes on maternity leave. I am SO going to screw the fall 2011 schedule up big time!
- I've struggled through learning how to build customized academic reports, which will be a good portion of my new job responsibilities (yay?)
- The Bocce tourney has started again! My team is Everybocce Dance Now! We are undefeated after two games.
- I went to the festival of instruments chapel and remembered why it's awesome to work at a college. I get to see so many cool performances for free.
- We recently watched work on the new building resume (after a long standstill due to permitting issues).
- I got to stay put while almost everyone else in the office had to move cubicles; it was a crazy week last week.
This week will be more craziness:
- Office birthday lunch in uptown tomorrow
- Office birthday party on Wednesday
- Movie night at my house on Wednesday
- Movies at the Fox on Thursday
- Possibly going to the university play OR to see English Beat at the HOB Anaheim Friday
- Disneyland on Saturday
- The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan on Sunday
I really will try to get some productive things done in the meantime. Really.
