Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005)

I'm not sure there's a ton to write about this movie, since I wasn't able to give it full enough attention while I watched it. It basically reveals what the heck was going on with the whole Enron scandal. Finally, once all the details were released, we understood why California kept having all of those power outages! My favorite parts of this documentary were the recorded phone calls that showed how unfeeling the culprits were. They knew they were making money and how they were making money, and there's nothing quite like a good comeuppance, which is documented as well. Also interesting were the pieces of footage from corporate equivalents of pep rallies, which talked a lot without saying anything at all. These guys had it down to a science. If you want a refresher on what went down, this movie tells it well. I may watch it a second time some time, to truly follow all the avenues the director intended to emphasize.
