Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973)

Oh, movie franchises, why can't you realize when it's time to let go?
I recently finished my quest to watch all of the Planet of the Apes movies, and sadly, Battle for the Planet of the Apes is even less enjoyable than Conquest was for me. In it, the apes have had a revolution and have seemingly destroyed most of human civilization due to some sort of nuclear occurrence. They are living out on open land and are lead by Caesar, who led the revolt in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Caesar has always been a good guy. He's always wanted human beings and apes to be equals. Unfortunately, once the apes have made themselves equals, a segment of them decide that they want to be considered superior. And those are the guys with the weapons, so you see where this is going.
I don't really care to hash through too much of what I didn't like about this movie. The movies lost steam a long time ago, and the only interesting part of this one is when Caesar heads back into the ruins of civilization to the library to find out more about his origins. Although what he learns is far too conveniently obtained, I did like that he discovered an underground human population that was dying from radiation. That part was at least imaginative.
But the rest of the movie is poorly written, largely uninteresting, often laughable, and very much inferior in many ways. In the case of the Planet of the Apes series, sadly, it seems that the movies can be rated in order of appearance. The first is the best, and the last is the worst. When should one stop watching? After the third.

movies when you're eight. They were awesome back then... Have you seen the
"Omega Man"? (Chuck Heston)
You know my mom wouldn't let me watch anything she wasn't interested in or thought had too much violence!Omega Man - I've only seen part of it but it is in my Netflix queue.
Have you seen Soylent Green?!
