So all of you out there on the University email system, welcome to your "Quarrantine."

I just don't get it. Did they get stupider and then decide to dish out a bunch of money for this system?

Think about it. In the past, they said, "Create a Spam folder and set up filters through your email system." This crappy (yet easy to deal with) method resulted in half of my wanted mail being sorted to the spam folder because it was bulk stuff like university announcements or newsletters from websites, and half of my unwanted email still showed up in my regular mailbox. Hmm. Not so hot.

Well, the spam folders were getting overloaded, so they hire a company to manage our spam so that evil stuff never makes it into our mailboxes again, and life will be much easier. As a result, I'll walk around the office smiling, and a student will see me smile, and that student will be put in a good mood, and as a result they'll say something nice to someone else, and as a result that person will be inspired to a good deed, and pretty soon Haley Joel Osmond will be holding a candelight vigil outside my cubicle for me.

Oh wait, that's the idealism of Pay it Forward. THIS is reality.

Life isn't any easier with this system, it's more complicated, and MORE annoying. Now I get emails in my mailbox that tell me I have possible spam emails elsewhere. Instead of having the "convenience" of a spam folder within my mailbox, now I have to open a browser window and sort through emails through their horrible web-based interface. Yes, it's very self-explanatory and easy to use, but some programmer didn't realize that some people like using the backspace button or the back button to go back to the previous page. So, if I click to view the contents of a questionable email, then press the backspace button to see my inbox.... you guessed it: nothing happens. You have to use the mouse. If anyone has seen me on our email system, they would know that I almost NEVER use the mouse. So on this new system of opening a new window, getting all mousy, and having to do all of this extra work to sort through my emails for spam that could easily just be BLACKLISTED AND AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED would know where my irritation is coming from.

Oh, and surprise, surprise: all of my wanted mail is here in the Quarrantine, delayed God knows how many hours in getting to me [actualy, I just looked it up: 12 hours.], because we bought this great new system...
