Ward Words

Kelly signed us up for Community Pride Day and we went to pick up trash in a nearby park to demonstrate our immense pride, along with the rest of our proud community. We showed up at 8:05 am (5 minutes late), and were the only two people picking up trash. About 15 minutes later another family showed up, leaving 6 proud people to pick up after an untold number of very unproud people. This leads me to my thought of the day, and two thoughts of the day from some days past - we'll call them Thursday and Friday.

1. People are gross. The park we were cleaning had a small creek running through it, and it was very marshy in and around the water. This has allowed garbage to get stuck in the reeds, especially near the culverts. In the water there were 2 liter bottles, lots of soda cans and bottles, take-out styrofoam containers, styrofoam packing chips, signs, etc. In the middle of the marsh was a whole bicycle and - oh the irony - a trashcan. Is it that hard for people to pick up after themselves? I'm a little sad and a little angry that we all have to share the earth, because some just don't give a lick.
2. If you have, or plan to ever have, a mustache, DO NOT get arrested. You will inevitably look like a pedophile in your mugshot.
3. I love Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and was excited when Black Cherry Vanilla Coke came out. Then I tried it and quickly became unexcited. I hated Vanilla Coke because it was too vanilla sweet. BCV Coke suffers the same fate. That and it didn't have the red coloring like CVDP to make me really believe that there was cherry flavoring inside.
