In 16 days (16 very short days), I am taking the Praxis exam in speech-language pathology. Until a few days ago, I thought I had 4 more weeks to prepare. After actually counting the days on a calendar instead of doing the math in my head (never a good idea for me...), I came to the conclusion that it is now officially "Go" time. I also came to the conclusion that I am very lucky that no math is involved in the test. I took next Friday and all of the first week of March off of work at Borders so that I could study at night since I still have my clinic placement during the days. Lucas bought me a book to study from for Christmas, so I have been reading that at every spare moment. Sometime in the next few days I should also be receiving a CD-ROM practice test and a study guide from ETS. I have never put this much effort into studying for a standardized test before, but this one is slightly more important than, say, the Junior test at Truman. But, in the interest of extending my study break, I have decided to compose a list of things that I would rather be doing right now:1. Eating at El Vaquero. Right now, I think a Speedy Gonzales would really improve my studying habits.2. Watching the stockpile of television shows we have on tape that we haven't watched since we both work in the evenings (a sample: the new Survivor, the Dr. Phil with Jonathan and Victoria from the Amazing Race, and NCIS).3. Baking a bundt cake. 4. Visiting friends and family in various locations across the country.5. Sleeping.6. I was going to stop at 5, but if I can think of 10, that is at least 5 more minutes that won't be spent studying. So the 6th thing I'd rather be doing...is thinking of things I'd rather be doing.7. Researching possible jobs on the internet.8. Needle point. (just kidding, not that desperate yet)9. Organizing my school binders (I am that desperate).10. Reading any magazine, book, or newspaper not related to my exam. The end. ~Kelly
Sending good study vibes your way, Kelly. I know you’ll smoke it, just as you did the SWE. At least you’re not preparing for that. And I couldn’t agree more with numero uno. Pollo con queso is calling my name.
