Progressive Bumper Stickers

March 20th, 2005

I got this Idea from Dave on this post. Here are some bumper stickers that the progressives probably don't want you to have:

Kill The Innocent, Spare The Guilty

or

Why Be A Christian, When The Government Can Be One For You

or

Faith Without Works Is Dead, That Is Why We Let The Government Do It

I love how progressives talk. Basically, they believe that the government is supposed to be a Christian for them. How many people have been saved by the Governmnet? Absoliuely none. How many people have been saved by something outside of grace? None. Whose job is it to share Christ with the nations? Christians. Whose jobs is it to enforce law and order? The government. How are Christians supposed to share Christ? With love. How is the government supposed to maintain law and order? By appropriate force.

SO what are you saying? Are you saying that the government should be allowed to ransack and pilliage our homes if we break the law? No, but what I am saying is that the government has its role, and Christians have their role. Unfortunately people confuse them. They try to make the government the Church and the Church the government, and then take away the personal responsibilties of each Christian. Of course this happens on both sides of the political spectrum. I am just picking on the progressives because I don't like to pick on myself.

Mr. Brightside...

March 6th, 2005

Hmm... Who knew... The Killers "Mr. Brightside"

I'm coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his—chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, let me go

I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside

I’m coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his—chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, let me go

Cause I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside

I never...
I never...
I never...

felt like posting it.

So We Lost

February 10th, 2005

So we were down 6 with 5 minutes left and we lost. That really stinks.

Anyways, today my ear has been giving me problems. It has been draining fluid all day. This really stinks for me. I don't know why it is happening.

Anyways it was good to see Honzo last night. Of course hearing what happened to his brother really stinks. I think his brother is one of the luckiest people in the world. Also I would like to say hang in there to Brendoman. Depression is a tough thing to handle, and I hope you get better soon.

Anyways, saturday is the last home game for me ever. I need to win that one, for me. I hope things go well.

Its Snowing

November 24th, 2004

So today it snowed here. It is pretty sweet, because I like snow, a lot.

Anyways, I bought a couple of new pairs of jeans today. They were really cheap, because a friend of mine in the retail business said that I could get a better deal on the day before Thanksgiving than the day after Thanksgiving.

My reading for Church history is going well. Its kind of funny to read the author I am reading right now. The books were written in 1910, so basically the U.S. is a political after thought. Of course he does talk about one "Current Event" in the U.S. It is about how the U.S. wouldn't accept the territory of Utah until it got rid of its favorable polygamy laws. It was kind of interesting.

Anyways that is all for now.

Study Guide, Once Again

POINTS OF EMPHASIS - PREPARATION FOR A TEST ON ROMANS 5-7

1. Read the chapter in your NSAB several times so as to be acquainted with their general thrust.

2. Memory verses.

3. Ouline of the Book Third major point of the outline begins at chapter 5.
a. How does chapter 5 develop point three of the outline?
b. How does chapter 6 develop point three of the outline?
c. How does chapter 7 develop point three of the outline?

4. Pay much attention to Romans 5:12-21.
a. Reason why it is hard to understand (besides the teacher's presentation!!!).
b. Explain what you understand the doctrine of "original sin" to be.
c. Where do those who believe in original sin find the doctrine in Romans 5:12ff?
d. What is the reason(s) you do or don't accept the doctrine as Biblical?
e. What guidelines help keep you "on track" as you study these verses?
1) What verses elsewhere in the NT expresses a similar thought.
2) What one-sentence summary of the whole is very useful?
f. Be prepared to explain some of the key words and phrases in this paragraph (I'll not ask for explanations that would require intimate knowledge of Greek suffixes and synonyms).
g. What does v.20 mean when it says "the Law came in besides" (ASV)?

5. Also let's focus careful attention on 6:1-14
a. What is the chief topic of this paragraph?
b. What do you think of the expression "Baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace?"
c. What makes you think it is "baptism in water" whose import is emphasized in this paragraph
d. What happens to a lost man at the time of his immersion?
e. What is it to be united with Jesus "in the likeness of His resurrection?" What verse in this context so limits your understanding?
f. What does it mean to "die to sin" and "live to God"?
g. How does one go about "stopping sin from reigning in his moral body"?

6. And then, let's focus especially on 7:7ff.
a. Can you explain the law's relation to sin?
b. Explain the process the devil uses as he tempts a man.
c. Is there such a thing as an "age of accountability"? What makes you think so? What practice is materially affected by your answer to this question?
d. In 7:13ff - does Paul speak of the struggles a Christian has with temptations to sin, or the struggles a non-converted Jew had with temptations to sin? What makes you think so?

7. And we shall end with a question or two about "sanctification." What is it? Why is it so important?

So Here Is My Scar

August 27th, 2004

scar.jpg

So this right here is the scar on my shoulder from my surgery. It looks good right?

Anyways yesterday I started physical therapy. It is going to be great. I dream of the day that I can lift my arm above my head. It will be a glorious day in the history of mankind. Anyways after the fixed parts of my shoulder heals, the muscle mass is going to be way down. So that is what I will work on in six weeks.

Also on a side note, my school likes to make rules, for no good reason.

At Home, Alone...

August 13th, 2004

You know, being at home is pretty cool, but then I just realized what everyone else in my family is doing while I am stuck here. Currently 4/9 of my family is at the beach. That is right, they went to the beach without me. So I am stuck here. Then 1/3 of my family is camping on the all church camp out. Which is cool, and I cant really do, but I kind of wish I was there. Oh well I am stuck in the house, alone, with two cats and a dog. Great fun. Oh well there is an XboX and I played that all morning.

Anyways, this time next friday, I will be on the road on the first of three legs of my journey to get to school.

That is All.

I Have A Bad Case of The Hic-ups

August 7th, 2004

It could quite possibly be that Hic-Ups are the most horrible thing in the world. Not the most destructive, but horribly annoying. Think about it, what other thing screams louder "HEY EVERYONE LOOK, AT ME, I AM HAVING LOUD INVOLUNTARY REACTIONS." Yeah, it really stinks. Then everyone tries to tell you how to cure them. And you almost have to listen or do them because they are almost all things people do to you. Like they all decide that they have to scare you. Yes they sneak up on you and then yell at you like they a huge monster and you just think to yourself, not scary and I still have the hic-ups. Then you also try to get rid of them yourself, but is there really a remedy...NO. I doesn't matter how many glasses of water you drink up-side-down, you are still going be involutary reacting all over the place. It sucks.

Anyways, I washed my hair today, it felt good. Especially since I haven't washed it since monday, and I haven't been able to clean myself to the level I wanted to be clean at since monday. So washing my hair felt really nice.

The Big Day is Coming...Tomorrow

August 2nd, 2004

So yeah, tomorrow is the big day. I get surgery on my shoulder. It will be a lot of fun. I will have to be at the hospital overnight, and then I will be released once I can go pee pee. Anyways on a serious note, I got some good news today, recovery could take a short as four months. YAY! Last time I talked to the doctor he said it would be six months until I would be healed, but today I learned it could be as little as four. Anyways I am out.

I hear chicks dig scars, so I will have a pretty cool one to show them.

ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS IN THE PORTLAND METROPOLITAN AREA

July 28th, 2004

This is really frustrating me. Here it is. The speed limit on Halsey street between 201st and 137th is 45 mph. Not 35 mph or 40 mph, but 45 mph. Drive that speed please. Come on I know, we might just get stopped at the next red light, but come on please... I would like to know that I did whatever I could to not get caught at the next red light. I don't mind stopping at red lights, we are supposed to. But I would rather drive the speed limit through green lights and on streets, that extra 3 seconds might be the difference in making my drive home 15 minutes and 25 minutes. So please be considerate of other drivers and drive the speed limit.

I Hate Not Being Able To Sleep

July 27th, 2004

I can't sleep tonight. It is horrible. I don't know what it is, I just can't get to sleep. I start thinking about stuff, I don't know what it is. I got done with my FAFSA today, all I need is to get it electronically signed by my mom. SO I got the pin sent to her. I should be done with it real soon.

I am at work alone this week. My boss is going to camp. She will be there until Wednesday. And then she might not be there Thursday, and then she goes on vacation until a week from Friday. So I run myself this week. I am enjoying the freedom...I think. I have to do a lot of stuff. The big thing I need to get done with this week is to evaluate preschool curriculum, and recruit for the mid-week program that starts this fall. It should be a good week.

The ALMS was cool. I saw qualifing. The Audi prototype car is just awesome.

I have my shoulder surgery next tuesday. I need to stay overnight in the hospital. That should be great fun. Except not really. Atleast when my shoulder heals I won't have to worry about it any more.

Today And Tomorrow

July 24th, 2004

Today, we had the final program for VBS. It went really well. The kids performance was very good. Also there were a lot of parents there watching. It was really good. I enjoyed it.

Tomorrow I will be going to see the American Le Mans Series at Portland International Raceway. It will also be a record setting day for heat. I think it is supposed to be 102 degrees outside. So I hope we bring enough water. It should also be a lot of fun.

This Is Incredibly Frustrating

July 8th, 2004

I can't stand how I can't sleep. I go to bed tired, I end up laying in bed for a hal hour to an hour, not sleeping then I get up and I am awake. It takes me a while to get to sleep now, because my shoulder limits the way I can sleep. Well not my shoulder, the sling that my arm is in. I don't understand why I can't get to sleep. Was I that much a creature of habit that when I was in bet I needed to be in a certain position to sleep, but yet I could sleep almost anywhere else in any position? This really stinks because I am trying to stay awake and refreshed during the day, but this is making it hard. I end up drinking way too much coffee, my brain does not function properly, and I never feel like I am getting anything done. Of course I don't think I would feel so bad if I didn't have the ability to sleep anywhere.

Anyways, I just want to get to sleep, without having to lay in bed for several hours.

A Men's Breakfast, A High School All-Star Game, A Barbecue, A Few Crying Babies, A Trip To The Zoo, and A Pup Named Palestine

June 28th, 2004

Wow. I think I did a lot this weekend. Well atleast for me. It all kicked off on Saturday. Saturday morning all started off with a Men's Breakfast at my church. Let me tell you the food was really good and the speaker is one of my all time favorite story tellers. He is an elder at my church and he is an older guy who has done so much in his life that he can tell about a million stories in the one story he tells, and still have people say "I thought you were going to tell this story, not that one." Anyways he has one of the greatest grandpa type voices ever. So the Men's breakfast was great.

Next, after some cleaning up at the house, we got a puppy. That is right at my house we have a puppy now. As a child, me and my two older brothers have always wanted a dog, but the answer was always "NO". There were several reasons, like not a big enough back yard, not a fenced back yard, mom is allergic, but for some reason now with a small back yard, we can get a dog. Its name is Palestine by the way, and it is half golden lab, and half sneaky neighbor dog that wasn't fixed.

Saturday Night, I went to a high school football all-star game. I expected a lot out of it, and really didn't get anything. I was a little dissappointed. The final score was 9 to 6 South over North.

Sunday was another good day for me. It started off with me working in the Nursery at church. I got to teach them the lesson, and a bunch of other stuff. It was kind of interesting though. We had three visitors in the nursery, and more kids than normal anyways, so we had to split up the kids. Then the only kids that we had a problem with in the nursery were the older kids. The two kids were the oldest two kids we have. The girl who was giving us problems I ended up holding, and I heard her say two things all day. The first thing I heard her say was, "I want Daddy." I figure that is typical because kids tend to want their parents when they are scared. After holding her a while, and she calmed down a little, but not enough, I tried to find a toy she liked. I handed her this Cookie Monster toy, and I asked her if she wanted the cookie monster, and she said "Cookie Monster." I held her for a little while longer, and then set her down, and she never let go of the cookie monster toy, until dad came and picked her up. I Thought it was pretty neat.

Sunday night the college group at my church had a Barbecue. It was good. Someone brought Cheesecake. It was delicious.

Tomorrow, I will be going to the zoo with the Elementary at the church. It shall be great fun. This is also the event that I planned, I hope it goes well. There may be pictures, but no guarentees.

I Have No Sense Of Time

June 23rd, 2004

I realized that I really have no sense of time. Well at least long term. I can't think in terms of months and weeks. It is horrible. I just realized that after tomorrow, I only have two weeks of work until I go to camp. Then I get back from camp, and have VBS right away, then I have a week where I am the only one in the children's department at my church. Then I have surgery on my shoulder on August 3rd, but I get that whole week off, except Monday. Then the next week is the last week of my internship, then the next week I have off, then I go back to school. I guess that is still like seven weeks, but where did the time go, it seems like yesterday I was just starting.

In other words, I am really looking forward to camp, and work getting crazy. I just can't wait. These are the times that I live for.

Father's Day

June 20th, 2004

Father's day is an interesting holiday. Its weird I think in how different it is to Mother's day. You know on Father's day it would be ok to go out and play baseball, and just get your dad a nice power tool or some lawn chairs or some other practical thing, and your dad won't really care, and probably like it. Meanwhile on Mother's Day, if you get your mom something practical, and do more of what you want to do activity wise, your mom will kill you and cry herself to sleep. Why is it that Women want stuff they can't really use or will only use once for gifts, and men want stuff they can use. I think maybe there is just a difference of opinion in values there that I just don't understand. I just really like people to acknowledge that I exist and get me something nice, then I am ok. Women want to be made queen of the world, be thrown something frivolous that will either die, or be put away in a box for 11 months of the year, and they will never fully use. I just don't get it.

Cleaning The Garage

June 18th, 2004

Today, I helped the rest of my family clean the garage. It was a whole lotta fun. I also went to the dump, it was no fun. I hate going to the dump. Everything is just so dirty. Now I know I am not the cleanest person that has ever lived in the universe, but come on, the dump is just disgusting. I hate it.

In other news, work is CRAZY!!! I am enjoying it though. I love doing what I am doing.

I got the date for my surgery, it shall be August 3rd. I am going to have to stay in the hospital overnight. And then have to be at home the next two days to recover. No fun at all. Then after that it will be the six month recovery. Maybe I will be back for basketball, maybe not.

Anyways, not much else is going on. I still like to eat a lot. Oh yeah, I am glad the Lakers lost and that Rasheed got a championship.

The Day After Yesterday

May 30th, 2004

Yes that would be today, saturday. Well for me on the proper coast atleast.

Yesterday I saw The Day After Tomorrow. I enjoyed it. It was really good. Aside from all the political crap in it, the special effects were pretty cool, along with all the cheesy dialog, and almost dieds. So I hope this right here doesn't spoil it for you, but this is the typical American disaster movie. The disaster wins, but there still is a happy ending.

I also saw a mighty wind. That movie is very enjoyable to watch. I kind of like folk music now. I also saw Megiddo on TBN, it was weird. It was about the end times, but I am not so sure what view they tried to fulfill. I think it was Historic Premillenial, but I think that they were trying to make everyone happy, so they really just leaving a lot of the Bible out.

Anyways that is it for me. I don't have much else to do or to talk about.

PEACE IN
