Yesterday on CSPAN I was watching an anti-war protest. It was quite interesting. First off everyone said the same thing, pretty much. You know all the basic stuff about how Bush is a murderer and all that garbage. There were a few things that were said that irked me.
First, completely blaming Bush for Hurricane Katrina. Bush can not cause a hurricane. He is not the one to blame for all the problems with the hurricane. He is also accused of being a racist, because of who was affected most by the hurricane. WHAT?? Ok, I know poor blacks were affected the most. That is not Bush's fault, no body blew up the parts of the Levee that would make it affect the black areas of town the most. So don't tell me Bush is a racist. Also they were complaining about how Bush was still financing a war, and cared more about the war than people in his own country. Well I know this, the war in Iraq has cost a little over $200 Billion. Didn't Bush just sign a Bill that would give $200 Billion to the rebuilding of New Orleans? Yeah, Bush doesn't care. I guess he didn't give a speech where he said, "I feel your pain." but he is providing some kind of action, for some mismanagement that occurred.
Next was Representative Cynthia McKinley(McKinney?). I remember her calling Bush a liar and a murderer in very emphatic fashion. Where is this when she doing her job as a Representative? I have never heard of anyone doing that on Capitol Hill. Why has she not brought formal accusations against Bush. Thanks Cynthia for big talk and no action.
Finally, what may have been the most absurd thing is when a helicopter flew overhead and the guy speaking said, "Maybe you should be helping hurricane victims instead of monitoring people who are enacting there first amendment rights." I just thought, well if there were 100,000 people in my neighborhood calling me a liar and a murderer in a very emotional and antagonistic fashion, I would atleast call the police, and I would want to know what they were up to.
So really, am I against anti-war protests...no, but goodness don't just say the same thing all the time, and throw around accusations without any proof. If you do that then you are just hoping to stir up peoples emotions and ask them to quit being rational. Think about it.
