Advanced
I finished up my rotation in Advanced Life Support skills today by running a mock resuscitation on the SimMan, a much more sophisticated (and expensive) mannequin than Little Anne of CPR courses past. I'm proud to report that SimMan will most likely live through the day.
The best part about finishing a rotation is that no work or responsibility carries over and the weekend is free to spend as you please. I plan to:
Play softball with the St. Andrew Presbyterian team, which happens to be on a five-game losing streak.
Head up to Lake Macbride with some friends from med school if the weather cooperates.
Watch a movie on the Pentacrest lawn, which reminds me of the drive-ins that SAB used to sponsor at Red Barn Park.
Next up, I have a two-week course on EKG interpretation and lab medicine, then I leave for what I hope will be the pinnacle of my medical education: four weeks in the Emergency Department at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
