I've never needed a blowoff tube until now. Brewed Saturday night. Old ale, a strong malty beer that won't be ready to drink for about 4 months. Sunday morning the airlock was already bubbling away. I love it when that happens. I notices a little wort in the airlock, then hugged by bucket goodbye and went to church. When I got back, there was bubbly wort and yeast running out of the airlock and down the bucket, making a nice mess on the floor. There was some wort on the wall and in the cat water, I assume from where the airlock cap was popped off. My reaction: Sweet! So I wrapped the mess in towels, wished my little yeasties godspeed, and grabbed the camera.
By the time the Super Bowl was over, the goop had stopped coming out of the airlock. I cleaned it up and the top of the bucket the best I could. Now it is bubbling away happily. I love this hobby.
