What a night. Will went to the hospital, not once, but twice last night. For some reason he suffered one of this fall asthma attacks in the dead of winter. Of course we drugged him up and pumped as many breathing treatments into him as we could, but the boy could just not stop coughing. His mom took him the first time about 11:00 last night. We put it off as long as we could, but it seemed the right call. Once there, the emergency room could do little for him and sent him back. He seemed to have it under control, but by 2:00 he was coughing nonstop and we were again out of options. Again, they didn’t keep him. They gave him some meds and another kind of breathing treatment that seemed to help. Now at 10:00 in the morning, the kids are both outside playing in the couple inches of snow that we got last night. Will’s still coughing a bit, but he’s not going to let that get in the way of snow play. (I just checked on them. They’ve got the bikes out. Mittens, hats, snow pants, and peddling up and down the street.) His sister is the only one who got any decent sleep last night. Don’t know what she’s going to do when the rest of us collapse after lunch today, probably some on-line shopping.
