Took the kids to the library last week and picked up the poker book, 52 Takes on the Home Game. It's 52 articles in about 200 pages, so it's basically reading for the smallest room in the house. Some of the essays are interesting, but most are just ok. It moved the top of the reading list because it's a library book, but I'm not sure I'm going to finish it, even though I'm close the end now.
Decided after 3 (count 'em, 3) snow days from school that it was time to pop in some ska punk. Big Brass, funky bass, sycopation, yeah baby. Listened to some Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger this morning. And I'm especially a sucker for the funky ska remakes--feel like making love, popeye the sailor, etc. I'm sure there's a number of swear words in these songs, but I'm mostly too old to understand what they're saying, and the kids are too young. Other options are Less Than Jake, and the Christian entry, The O.C. Supertones.
