"Wouldn't it be awesome," I said to one of my students last night while working the concession stand, "if we had a snow day tomorrow." We both just nodded our heads, and smiled. And at 6:30 this morning, the call came.
Will was up, dressed and out in it by 6:45. The winter clothes were still up in the attic, but he made due with what he had. He was soon joined by little sis and dad. I think he summed up Snow Day later this morning over hot chocolate. Warmed from the fire and hot drink, he looked outside, and getting down from the table said, "I'm hungry for more snow!"
They're out in it now, making little snow men, throwing snowballs, catching snow flakes on their tongue (yes, they actually do that), and just enjoying what most people, now on their way to work, would regard as a rotten day. Perspective is everything.
