On Monday Fresh Air featured an interview with Robert Kuttner. In it he gives the clearest explanation I have heard yet of the sub-prime mortgage crisis and a great overview of America's economic history over the last 50 years.

He says the push for deregulation over the last 30 years has failed, and that we need to return to a mixed economy, such as the one that existed from the Roosevelt era through the 1960s.

Even if you don't understand economics (or especially if you don't understand economics), I strongly encourage you to listen to the interview. It's highly informative and easy to understand.
