Dear iTunes,

I've come to enjoy our Fridays together, when I come home from work, set you to random, and report the first ten songs you play. In the past, I've enjoyed seeing what obscure music you manage to dig up from years ago, or laugh at the unusual juxtapositions you create. I appreciate the opportunity this gives me to write commentary on the musical juxtapositions for my friends to enjoy.

This week, though, I must admit I'm a little disappointed. Your selections don't seem to be of the same quality as in the past. Oh, you start out okay, giving me the theme song from Cowboy Bebop, a mellow Moby track, and perhaps my favorite song that Enya has ever written. After that, though, your selections go downhill. I mean, three Flaming Lips songs? Is that really necessary, considering the 5000 other songs I've given you to choose from? Then you throw out the token U2 song, just like every week, plus a couple of mediocre alternative rock songs from high school. I feel like we've got into a rut. The inclusion of a great Radiohead song at the end was a nice gesture, but I'm afraid it doesn't quite make up for an otherwise lackluster attempt at a random list. Let's try to do a little better next time, shall we?

Yours,
Kyle
