Friday Random Ten (and I do mean random)
I came up with quite the mix this time. Due to the extremely obscure nature of a few of the songs (and because it's just a fun idea) I'm providing some commentary with the Random Ten this week. I saw someone else do this, but I can't remember who. If I'm ripping you off, let me know, and I'll give you credit.
Crystal Method - She's a Pusher Cool song. This takes me back to my electronica listening phase.
Moby - Sunspot Still doing electronica, but Moby has a more timeless feel. I doubt I'll ever get tired of this.
O Fortuna (from Carmina Burana) Now this is classic stuff! O Fortuna is the best and most famous song (movement? section?) from Carl Orff's masterpiece, Carmina Burana (You've heard it somehwere before, trust me). You just can't beat medieval poetry set to modern classical music.
U2 - Trash, Trampoline and the Party Girl An extremely old school U2 song. It's definitely not their best stuff, but it has a certain youthful charm about it.
CCF - Rise Again Speak up if you have CCF's Rejoice Rejoice CD! It's a recording of songs performed by the worship band of the campus ministry Erika and I attended at Truman. It's always funny to see these songs turn up alongside everything else in my library.
Radiohead - Hunting Bears A minimalist filler track from Radiohead's Amnesiac, this song doesn't really do much for me.
Billie Holiday - Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love) This song has me in the mood to dance the Charleston.
The Flaming Lips - Michael, Time to Wake Up Not really a song, so much as 29 seconds of noise from Telepathic Surgery, one of the Lips' weirder albums.
U2 - I'm Not Your Baby (Skysplitter Dub) A very nice instrumental piece from U2. I rather like it.
Depeche Mode - Stripped What can I say? Depeche Mode is great.
So there you have it. Ten songs that encompass classical, jazz, electronica, rock, and Christian worship. That's what I call random.
