Just in case anybody other than me cares...
The Flaming Lips have finished shooting their Christmas on Mars film. This is the movie that was originally supposed to be released in 2001 or 2002, if I remember right (it's been so long now). Pitchfork recently called it the "Chinese Democracy of homemade alien holiday movies," which I must admit is pretty clever, in spite of myself.
At any rate, it looks like the movie is still progressing. The band says it will be released in 2006 (this is at least the fourth time they've pushed it back a year). For this to happen, they would have to edit it while they are finishing their newest album and preparing a tour (and releasing The Soft Bulletin 5.1 DVD, and working on the announced Zaireeka DVD, and whatever else they decide to do in the meantime...).
The Flaming Lips are nothing if not ambitious.
