Hippy Dave's protest music mix
In response to his post, I made Hippy Dave a compilation of protest music for him to listen to while at work, blogging about his random ravings. It was difficult deciding what to put on it, but I think I came up with a pretty good list.
1. Stupid's Pledge - Utah Phillips
2. Direct Action - Utah Phillips
3. Blowin' in the Wind - Bob Dylan
4. Don't Take Your Guns to Town - Johnny Cash
5. Amber - Lost & Found
6. Freedom Time - Lauryn Hill
7. Hollow Log - Beck
8. Man in Black - Johnny Cash
9. The Mercy Seat - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
10. The Hurricane - Bob Dylan
11. Crime for Crime - Ani DiFranco
12. America Is - Violent Femmes
13. Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee - Indigo Girls
14. The Beauty of Gray - Live
15. Hadda Be Playing On the Jukebox - Rage Against the Machine (words by Allen Ginsberg)
16. Be the Rain - Neil Young & Crazy Horse
17. Grand Canyon - Ani DiFranco
Danny emailed me and suggested "Light Pollution" by Bright Eyes, but I unfortunately don't have that song.
Also, I was tempted to include "Jerry Falwell Destroyed Earth" by Ben Kweller, but it would have been only for the title. The song itself isn't very good.
I sent out the CD today, so you should get it soon, Dave. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.
