Updates, revisions, and excuses

I have just over a week to finish my portfolio for my master's degree. For the last few weeks, I have been increasing the amount of time I spend working on it, trying to get it done. I have about 30 pages finished, but I am still less than half done. This week I must write up the research I did while teaching, then combine that with the portfolio reflections I've already written into one neat little package. It's going to be a rough week. In other words, don't expect to see much on my blog until after July 15, at the latest.

Already, I have spent less time blogging because of the other work I've been doing. My final installment of "Three Comic Book Greats" was rather rushed, I'm afraid, and I really wasn't happy with it. I really didn't do justice to the work Neil Gaiman did on Sandman. Therefore, I decided to revise it. This is the last bit of personal writing I'm allowing myself until after my portfolio is completed (unless I find some newsworthy item I want to comment on briefly). For your convenience, here are the three essays I wrote about the greatest comic book writers of our time, revised and updated:

Part 1: Frank Miller

Part 2: Alan Moore

Part 3: Neil Gaiman

Henry ImlerWow. Good luck on it. Sounds like a helluva lot of work. I am sure you will kick it in the pants though.
