Another year, another Comic-Con in the books. I stayed at the Embassy Suites again and it was great. It's close to the convention center and the free breakfast is amazing. Huge props to Topher Davila for the hookup. While I didn't go to a huge amount of panels this year, I had a ton of fun just hanging out with people and I think that is a huge part of what makes Comic-Con great. Some of the other highlights:
- Phil and I took Audrey (my goddaughter) around preview night. She had a blast and got lots of free stuff.
- I met Hulk Hogan at the THQ booth! He was awesome!
- Spent a lot of time with The Pillagecast crew. We recorded some interviews and also did a full episode in the hospitality room at the Marriott.
- Thanks to Jonathan London at Geekscape, I got to go to a cool party and met Doug Jones and Ray Wise.
- Even though I missed out on the Game of Thrones panel because Ballroom 20 was nuts, I made it into the TV Guide panel which featured many cool TV folks including Pam and Lafayette from True Blood and Matt Smith from Doctor Who.
- After that I saw the Showtime Panel, which featured some of the cast of Shameless (including William H. Macy, who was amazing) and most of the cast of Dexter including new guest stars Colin Hanks and Mos Def.
- Made it to the tail end of Penn & Teller, just in time to see them do some magic.
- Went to a screening of 30 Minutes or Less and a Q&A by Ruben Fleischer, Michael Pena, Aziz Ansari, and Nick Swardson. Both the movie and Q&A were hilarious. Definitely check it out when it comes out next month!
- Hung out with friend and Pop Sickles co-host Derick Armijo on Saturday. It was cool acting as a guide for someone brand new to Comic-Con. We also recorded a segment for the show with Gates so that was cool.
- We met up with the always awesome Brian Lynch at the Hyatt for late night hijinks.
- Took an extra day just to relax and avoid the crush to get home on Sunday. Best decision ever.
Now I'm back at work and wondering how it all went by so fast. It was great seeing everyone and running in to old and new friends. I already can't wait until next year!
