I got to see Star Trek on IMAX on Thursday and I don't know what else to say about it that hasn't already been said. It was awesome. I'll probably go see it again, for sure. JJ and the rest of the crew did an amazing job. I was especially surprised by Karl Urban's performance as Bones. He did a fantastic job. My only criticism is that there wasn't enough Scotty, but hopefully they will do another one soon so we can see more of him.
My dad wasn't a huge TV watcher from what I remember growing up but two things I remember watching with him quite often were Star Trek and pro wrestling. I'll save the pro wrestling for another post, which I'm still building in my head since I've kind of been on a huge kick since watching The Wrestler, but I love the original Star Trek. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of the other Trek stuff too but the original series will always have a special place in my heart because of my association of it with my dad. I know he loved the movies too, but he didn't take me to see one in the theater until number 6. Perhaps he just didn't think I would be into it before then, which he may have had a point with. Also, I was waaay into Star Wars (another thing I owe to him) and perhaps that had something to do with it. Anyways, I think my dad would have loved this movie. It kept a lot of the central themes and the characters and I think that is what matters.
