George Mitchell just dropped a bomb on Major League Baseball, indicating over 80 players as steroid users. Just a quick glance at the list and you'll see chunks of World Series winning teams as well as Cy Young winners, batting champions, MVP's, future Hall of Famer's, and Gold Glove winners. How is the MLB going to deal with this? Time will tell. I was just discussing with my co-worker how other sports have dealt with steroid scandals. The International Olympic Committee has been swift in taking away gold medals from folks like Marion Jones. What if the MLB took away these players awards? World Series rings? It sounds harsh, but what if these players had been caught cheating in some other manner? It will be interesting to see what they do and if it is possible to bring back any credibility to major league baseball.
Matt Williams of the DBacks (WS ‘01), says he took HGH for an ankle injury. Hmmm. Too bad, I liked him.
Bonds* took steroids? No way!
