I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing Leslie Iwerks' The Pixar Story last night at the Egyptian Theatre. It was a really great look at the history of Pixar and was a delight for both the computer geek and the film and animation geek inside of me. Iwerks is the granddaughter of the legendary animator Ub Iwerks, who she also has done a documentary about. Thanks to her connections and access given to her at Pixar, she was able to interview a ton of folks such as John Lasseter, Steve Jobs, Roy Disney, Brad Bird, and George Lucas. I only knew part of the story behind Pixar and I was really fascinated watching this film. I highly recommend it if you get a chance to see it. As a special treat, Iwerks did a Q&A along with Roy Disney, nephew of Walt Disney. It was a great way to end the evening. Iwerks wasn't sure when the DVD would be released as that is up to the Disney folks, but hopefully it will be soon!
