Just got back from Transformers. If you're riding the fence on this one, get the hell off of it and go see this movie already. It's a great summer film, pure fun, and giant freaking robot excitement. I really dig this new 8 PM showing thing. I think I'm getting too old for midnight shows. Let me just tell you, the moment the first Transformer transformed on screen, the crowd went nuts and I felt like I was 6 years old again. I think the majority of the crowd did. Except for the asshole who thought it was a good idea to bring his BABY to the movie. Don't even get me started on that. The human actors were great, and the freaking Transformers were awesome. I'm so stinking glad they got Peter Cullen for the voice of Optimus Prime and Hugo Weaving did a great job as the voice of Megatron. The flick was action packed. I'm sure there were plot holes and other crap like that, but honestly, those things don't really matter in a movie like this. It's just fun. Bay did what he does best, which is blow a lot of stuff up and make it look awesome. I know I'll be in line to see this one again. It's definitely something you have to see on the big screen.
I also saw Live Free or Die Hard this weekend, which was also a great summer flick. There were some crazy scenes that defied all laws of physics and gravity, but that's what these movies are all about. Bruce Willis delivered once again. Kevin Smith was really funny in his role. He wasn't kidding on how integral he was to the plot of the movie. I thought Justin Long also did a great job in the sidekick role. The only thing negative I have to say about the flick is that both Timothy Olyphant and his character just didn't make a very good Die Hard villain. Just by looking at him, you know he doesn't stand a chance against McClane. Also, I guess I just don't really like Timothy Olyphant. But that aside, this was another great action flick. I liked Transformers more, but I thought both of these movies were great, definitely some of the most fun movies of the summer so far.
