That didn't take long. The cult post just passed the worship post in number of comments.

My Harry Potter post over at TypePad has 776 comments, but that's been going on for 3 years. Lucas could easily beat that. We need some good ol' controversy here on brendoman.com. Maybe that will stir up our ad click thrus, give us some of that fat cash. I don't know what to write though. I thought my "Beyond Labels" post would really stir some of the crazies up, but I guess I need to do more.

The reason my post has attracted any attention is because there really isn't much info on this church on the web (at least in English, maybe in Korean). That and there have been a few people really adamant in defending what they believe (though two Church of God members stopped posting after being questioned on lots of things and never giving answers). So, to get more traffic, find a topic which doesn't have much info on the web, but which still has some hardcore adherents willing to butt heads forever. These people must have a lot of time on their hands too. Maybe out of work IT people (since they'll be online a lot). Or argumentative robots.

That gives me an idea.

Only on Passover night, Jesus Christ promised his Body and His Blood. Then the Church bought by His blood means the true church has to have the Passover. Although many churches say they have Christ's blood through communion or Eucharist, Christ ONLY promised it on Passover night. Also the true church that was established 2000 years ago did not have any denomination but was called the Church of God. Then the Church of God World Mission Society is the only true Church in these days because it was bought through the blood of Christ, the Passover. And who brought this Passover? Christ AhnsahngHong is the only One who set up the Feast of the Passover again in these last days according to the prophecies in the Bible. Although so many people speak against church of God world mission society, it is the only Church that did everything according to the teachings of the Bible. Truly God dwells there.

We, human beings, who lost the tree of life and were destined to die, could have eternal life by God who came in the flesh and allowed the fruit of the tree of life, that is, the bread and wine of the Passover. However, the devil abolished the truth of the Passover at the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. It means the tree of life was hidden and no one could have eternal life. We could not expect salvation without the Passover the truth about the tree of life. In this situation, the one who is able to restore the truth of the Passover, that is, the tree of life, is only God as it was 2,000 years ago.

Heb. 9:28 wso Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.x

The purpose of Christ coming a second time is for our salvation. To bring us salvation the Passover is absolutely needed. The One who allowed us the Passover truth is Ahnsahnghong.

Therefore, Ahnsahnghong is Christ who came in this age according to all the prophecy of the Bible. He restored the truth of the Passover, the tree of life, and saved us from our sin and death. He is our God.

Maybe my favorite "prophesy" from CoG has to do with a person called Mother Jerusalem they claim is referenced somewhere in the New Testament (don't remember exactly where. But, essentially the scripture talks about a new city of Jersusalem (Revelations?). This new Jerusalem is what the church members claim is their "Mother Jerusalem", despite the scripture giving units of measurement for the new city of Jerusalem. That's one large woman!

I also like the reasoning they use, as happylife has demonstrated. Something like this: Bob ate a pizza three days ago. I say John ate a pizza today (I'm ignoring the fact that there is some debate about this, Jane said he had sushi). John is Bob. There is no doubt.

The fact that people buy into this utter bullshit so whole-heartedly in this modern world casts some serious doubt on the claim that the earliest followers of Jesus couldn't have been fooled and convinced to die for a baseless legend.

The Bible prophesied that Jesus would appear a second time (Heb. 9:28). Ahnsahnghong¡ªwhom the Church of God believes in as their Savior¡ªis Jesus who has come a second time, according to the prophecy.

Then, when is Jesus prophesied to come a second time? Why does the Church of God believe that the Second Coming Christ is Ahnsahnghong?

Through the parable of the fig tree, Jesus revealed that He would come for the second time in 1948, when Israel¡ªrepresented as the fig tree¡ªwould gain its independence. Ahnsahnghong came in 1948 according to the prophecy of the fig tree, so the Church of God believes in Him as the Second Coming Christ.

Then, does the Bible disclose when Jesus will come?

When the disciples asked about the signs of Jesus¡¯ second coming and of the end of the age, Jesus said:

Matt. 24:3-33 ¡º¡±¡­At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, And all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on

twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so,

Since it is written, ¡°As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that it is near,¡± we must come to know the timing of the fig tree and we must receive Jesus when He comes a second time.

First, we must understand what the fig tree represents. As it is written,

Luke 13:6-7 ¡ºThen he told this parable: ¡°A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ¡®For three years now I¡¯ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven¡¯t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?¡¯¡±¡»

What does Jesus¡¯ looking for fruit on a fig tree planted in a vineyard, for three years, mean? It means that Jesus preached the gospel to the Israelites for three years, searching for the fruit of the gospel. Therefore, the fig tree stands for Israel.
Through many other Bible verses, let¡¯s confirm that the fig tree in the vineyard represents Israel.

Isa. 5:7, KJV ¡ºFor the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant.¡»

In the above verse also, the vineyard represents the country Israel, and the plant [the tree] stands for the people of Israel. Let¡¯s look at another verse concerning this.

Jer. 24:5 ¡º¡±This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ¡®Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.¡¯¡±¡»

Since it is written that God regards the exiles from Judah as the good figs, it is clear that the fig tree stands for Israel.

In Luke 13:7, Jesus told His disciples to cut down a fig tree that had not borne any fruit. Just as He had told them, Israel¡ªwhich rejected the gospel that Jesus had preached for three years¡ªwas completely destroyed by Roman soldiers in A.D. 70. Following its collapse, the people of Israel were scattered all over the world, as a stateless people, for about 1,900 years.

After much time had passed, the fig tree¡ªthat had been cut and dried up¡ªbegan to revive. Its twigs got tender and its leaves came out. When did all of this happen? The revival of the fig tree occurred in 1948. On May 14, 1948, Israel proclaimed her independence and recovered her sovereignty. The fig tree, which seemed to have completely died, revived. At that time, Jesus came for a second time, as was prophesied. He was Christ Ahnsahnghong, whom every Christian had been waiting for. The Church of God received Ahnsahnghong, the Second Coming Jesus, as Savior.

Rom. 11:26 ¡ºAnd so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: ¡°The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.¡±¡»

Ahnsahnghong, the Second Coming Jesus, came from Zion in 1948, as had been prophesied in the parable of the fig tree. Now He is calling you. Will you let Him stand at your door, or will you open the door and receive Him?

World Mission Society Church of God follows ALL God¡¯s commandments and will so that makes them the true church according to the Bible. Other churches only keeps man-made traditions: Sunday as their day of rest, Communion as Jesus body and blood which is from the Catholic celebrated by most Christians whenever they want, Christmas as Jesus Christ birthday. I have a hard time seeing the Bible, or any holy book, as "Reliable", in general. To illustrate the point, I would like to point out some similarities between the Bible and the ancient Egyptian beliefs (being the oldest civilization we have found so far...Sumerian's, Indians and Chinese civ's debatable - all roughly 3,000 BC - maybe more?)

1. Horus, the Son of God, Immaculately conceived by the Virgin Mother Isis on Dec. 25th. Heralded by the eastern star and adored by 3 kings. As a child he was a prodigal teacher and at the age of 30 was baptized by Anup and thus began his ministry. Later Horus was crucified, killed and buried and after 3 days was resurrected and ascended into the heavens. (sound familiar?) There are a lot more similarities between Horus and Jesus and Isis and Mary that I will not bore you with here. In fact there are dozens, if not 100's of ancient religions that share these same fundamental traits!

2. Mises - as a child was placed in a reed basket and set down a river to avoid infanticide, rescued and raised as royalty. Later was a prophet and spoken-to on top of a mountain, by god and came down to deliver the 10 laws of man, written on stone tablets, which today is known as spell 125 in the Egyptian book of the dead (sounds familiar also)

3. Egyptian(name forgotten by me right now), God spoke to this man and warned him of a global flood, caused by mans sins, ordered him to build an arc/boat with one door, one window, load it with animals, etc. He Released a dove later on which was the holy spirit..(sound familiar?)

The list of similarities goes on and on for anyone who wishes to study ancient history, religion, and mythology – we don’t learn these things in Sunday/Saturday school though...

My Question: How do Christians, in general, let alone WMS members explain these things?

It is hard for me to know these things and not feel that the Bible is direct plagiarism of religions and myths that existed before. However, it doesn't answer my questions of the messages and lessons to be found in all these religions.

It seems to me that if one studies the history of religion, and not Just the passages of the Bible - you will find that most religions are so more Fundamentally Similar than different.

Isn't it possible that over time, Extra has been added on? Politically minded men and Religion are a dangerous combination.

Most of us in this world are Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, or any other Religion, not by choice - but because we were Taught to Be. Here in America, our whole social framework is Religious, whether we have ever stepped inside a church or not. We see religious leaders as authority figures above all else – We’re conditioned to.

I tend to feel that if we could spend more time Studying the Similarities of World Religions - Rather than the Differences... We might start to make Real Spiritual Progress.

Furthermore, nothing short of a "Supernatural" event can Truly Prove anything. That’s why the word “Faith” was invented.

If I understand this correctly, they're making comments about someone else's blog on this blog. Yeah, that makes a ton of sense guys. This is funny.

The Bible tetifies that we were heavenly angels before we came to this earth(Gen 2:7. Eccl. 12:7). Our home is heaven. But, because of sin we came to this earth(Matt9:13, Luke 19:10). So to us, sinner, the most improtant thing is the forgiveness of sins. So, God gave us the Passover. Through the Passover God promised us the forgiveness of sins and the eternal life. And when we keep the Passover God protect us from all disasters. Passover is the most precious present of God.

And only God can give us the forgiveness of sins, eternal life. So only God give us the Passover himself. 3500 years ago, God the father Jehovah gave us the Passover and 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ gave us the new covenant Passover and this ages the second coming Christ Ahnsahnghong brought us the Passover.

I really thanks to true God, Christ Ahnsahnghong who give us the forgiveness of sins, eternal life.

Well well well. Same people different blogg. First we have cog people spouting their half truths and lies about the sabbath and the passover and then we have our local athiest pulling the one about the other old religions and how the bible is just a copy cat verison of previous ancient beliefs. Well people, my suggestion is to do some research. Prehaps in a library. Get a few books out. You will soon discover cog is a cult, fixed beliefs that don't stand up to scrutiny. Check their passages. Look up some references. See what other people have considered what these passages actually mean. Form an opinion based on intellect not the rantings of cult followers. They just want to believe it because the group offer them something they can't obtain in their lives on their own. As for the atheiest and the old sad song of the bible just being a copycat of ancient religions. Well the bible is an old ancient religion. Starts with Adam and Eve, remember? Now a Jewish carpenter around the age of 30 comes and claims that he is that same Jehovah God(John 10:30). He is single his whole life, he hangs around prostitutes, tax-collectors, fisher men, crippled, he rides around in a donkey, he fixed your door one year ago, you saw him grow, your children played with him, he lived in your town, you know his parents. Would you really believe he is your Messiah, God in the flesh????

Today it sounds ridiculous to think that he is not the Christ, but how about 2000 years ago?

Foundation gives gifts to troops at Yongsan to show appreciation

YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — U.S. troops yelled "We love you!" enthusiastically Thursday from the bleachers of Yongsan Garrison’s Collier Field House as they received 1,000 brightly wrapped gift boxes.
The gifts — many with "Happy New Year" written on the wrapping in honor of the Korean Lunar New Year — were donated by members of the International We Love U Foundation, which engages in activities ranging from child and senior citizen welfare aid to international aid and disaster relief, officials said.

Foundation chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah is no stranger to the enthusiastic reception she received as she passed out scarves, gloves, hats and other gifts.

Zahng also heads the World Mission Society Church of God, a group believed by some to be a Christian cult in which followers believe Zahng’s late husband, Ahn Sang-hong, was the second coming of Christ. Zahng, according the church’s Web site, is the "Heavenly Mother," the female incarnation of God.

Members of both the church and the foundation refer to Zahng as "Mother," and signs at Thursday’s presentation ceremony proclaimed: "We convey love with Mother’s heart."

Garrison spokesman Dave McNally said the foundation is a reputable organization that came recommended by the U.S. Embassy in Seoul. He also said the group was screened for appropriateness before being allowed to participate in an official function at the garrison, and that the foundation is a civic organization, not a religious one.

"One thousand soldiers are happy now because they got gifts they didn’t have the day before," McNally said. "We’re OK with the event."

Zahng, who made no overt religious references or solicitations during the event, said the gifts were a show of appreciation for the work U.S. servicemembers do in the defense of South Korea.

"I felt sorry for them living so far apart from their families," Zahng said Thursday. "So I wanted to share this warmth with them."

The stories detailed over and over about how destructive your cult is to families is NOT a lie. It is the truth, and I know because my son is in this nightmare "religion" and what this cult has done to him is the same thing it has done to others. Keith Mallory, I am not blaspheming anyone or anything. I KNOW that the COG is a farce, a money grubbing organization, and the pastor and the recruiters do NOT care about what happens to the lives of its recruits as long as they continue to tithe. I have been to the COG several times as has my husband, son, daughter, and daughter-in-law. My husband, myself, and my daughter in law were baptized there, mainly because we wanted to please my son, and we did not fully understand what the church was about at that time. They baptized us the very first time we were ever there! No real church does that. We thought it was a mainstream church at first, and my son wanted us to be "born again" so we did it, not realizing that this place is actually a brainwashing cult. My poor son is under mind control from these people. It is ruining his life and relationships with EVERYONE. He is set to lose his job, his wife, his friends, and his sanity. He cries all the time, and is now mentally unstable. He has talked of committing suicide three times, the last time he fasted, refused to drink water, and refused to go to work unless we all accepted his "church." Do you care about this Keith? I care. I'm his mother. His pastor has been told of this, and he still pressures my son to go to church at least 4 times a week. The "church" is an hour drive one way from my son's home. He is exhausted, depressed, and unstable. I love him, and I want him out of there. Ahnsahnghong and the Mother are fakes .

I remember the conversation exactly, because I told him even if it didn't end, they would come up with a phony excuse. They said this to her face, and also said that if it doesn't end, then the church should disband and lock the doors! There is no way to back track unless they want to lie. My husband went to the COG church several times for long amounts of time at the urging of my son, and because he wanted to be able to speak from first hand knowledge. He also read Ahnsahnghong's book about the spring of the water of life, etc. He found no instance where ASH said he was Christ, and he found not one mention of the Mother. My son has preached to him for hours and he has patiently listened, but does not find anything they are promoting to be believable in any way. From listening to church members, who have taken him into their little rooms for lessons, and from listening to the membership talk, my husband definitely belives they are unreasonable and destructive. We love our son, but we see him being so unhappy, exhausted, and angry most of the time because of his association with the COG. I feel so bad for him. I found so many quotes in Proverbs about how sons should not cause grief to fathers and mothers, but our son is, with their instruction. How does the COG reconcile this direct contradiction to the Word? We have found out that they tell him not to listen to us, we are just uninformed and wrong. It is so sad, and I hate seeing him so unhappy.

I have studied the Bible for over twenty years, I don’t mean I read it, I study it. And now my nephew who has been involved with this World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) for less than a year wants to conduct a Bible study with me! It’s NOT REALLY a Bible study; it’s more of an indoctrination into the cult. Their idea of a Bible study is that THEY do all the talking and jump around all over the Bible all the while not making any sense. The idea of there being a mother God would be completely laughable if only so many victims had not fallen for such hogwash. If they knew what was meant when God said “let us make man in our image” and who was speaking to whom, they’d realize what an error they have made. If they knew what was meant by “Heavenly Jerusalem,” they’d further be embarrassed. But ALL CULTS need to have some “special revelation,” that sets them apart and makes them, well, special.

It is of no use to reason with them logically on the scriptures because they are suffering from some form of mind control. If the WMSCOG told them that RED was now BLUE you could disagree with them until you’d turn blue in the face and you’d get nowhere, that’s why they call it “A MIND CONTROL CULT.” I’ve seen people under hypnoses, and you can manipulate them in all kinds of ways. It’s even easier to manipulate people with the Bible because most have little or no understanding of it when confronted with WMSCOG members. I can tell that my nephew is suffering from some form of mind control, because, for the first time in his life, he talks but doesn't make logical sense.

I let my nephew take me on one of HIS so called bible studies. He wanted to convince me of the need to celebrate the Passover. He flipped from scripture to scripture, wanting me to agree that what he was showing me made sense, and he asked me not to disagree, so I just remained silent. He took me to 27 different scriptures. Only one had anything to do with the JEWISH PASSOVER and two were about the “Lord’s evening meal.” The rest of the scriptures could have been blindly pulled out of any place in the Bible, for they had nothing to do with the Passover. He was irritated that I was talking notes, and wanted to conduct another study with me in which I would not be allowed to take notes, another sign of a cult. What was sad was that he was convinced after showing me the scriptures, which I wrote down and printed out, that he had proved to me the need to celebrate the Passover, which he had not. I do believe in celebrating the “Lord’s Evening Meal,” which is not the same thing as the Jewish Passover.

(1 Corinthians 11:23-25) For I received from the Lord that which I also handed on to YOU, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf 24 and, after giving thanks, he broke it and said: “This means my body which is in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup also, after he had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, as often as YOU drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Look closely, this is talking about the NEW COVENANT, not the Jewish Passover. This is a completely different topic in which I will be happy to write about in another blog.

If you look at most of the posts on the internet in support of the WMSCOG you can tell that they are Korean bloggers because they haven’t quite got their English down yet. But don’t underestimate them, for Satan has blinded the minds of many and will continue to do so.

The irony in it is that my nephew keeps texting me: “you don’t even keep the ten commandments,” because I don’t celebrate THEIR Passover and yet they are breaking the first and most important commandment;

They worship God the Mother which IS BREAKING THE FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT COMMANDMENT. That is what I call blinded.

Jesus didn't say "Our father and mother who art in heaven."

Even Jesus made it clear by his words and actions that Jehovah God alone was to be worshiped.

Was Jesus praying to himself? Was he praying to god the mother?

Their manager, Joo Cheoul Kim, may be "donating $100,000" to what seems like a worthy cause, but I estimate my son alone has given the COG at least $30,000 in the past three years, including his retirement funds, which he withdrew recently before his trip to Korea. They rob people, basically, then give a pittance to a "good cause" to make themselves look better, or legitimate, which they are not. It is abhorrent that any legitimate organization would want to lend this cult legitimacy, no matter what they give. They are fakers and false idolators. Sad.

The mother of my children has been going to this church for about two years now. She was recruited by two sisters from the church who were going door to door. At first I thought is was harmless and would be good for her to go to a few bible studies. I soon realized that this church is indeed a CULT. She is so far gone I cannot tell her anything that goes against her beliefs. She also thinks that she is invincible because she has "had the passover". I dont know what to do she is so far gone i am afraid that she will never come to her senses. I went to her service once and was kicked out because I was taking pictures with my cell phone. That seemed like a huge warning sign to me. What are they hiding. When I asked her what the big deal was she told me I needed to study more. I used to go to the church of god world mission society for about 7 months. During those months I would go on a daily basis studying,going to services, and preaching for more than 9 hours a day. One day during an important feast the pastor told me to get out stay out and dont ever come back or he would call the police on me. He never gave me a reason as to why I should leave and dont come back. I later found out through extensive research that the church is a false teaching doctrine, money taking church. The wmscog is a scam. I used to be a member. All they do is lie. They have catholic songs in their hymnal despite believing that catholics are of the devil. They lie on their tax forms. They preach obedience to their gods but encourage disobedience in their members when it comes to their families and friends. They say that you have to prove your love for God by following his commands but they encourage divorce, and they encourage their members to lie to non-members by calling it a "righteous lie". As far as the Bible studies go, when you look at the context and research the history, they do not make sense. Their misquoting of historical facts has also been recently exposed on the encountering site in the cross part 1 article. If they can't even quote a historical fact correctly, why would you trust them with something as important as your salvation. Why is their "mother god" ok with the lies? If she was "god" she would know what they were doing and would stop them. They also encourage their single members to marry Koreans. This is an obvious attempt to get them citizenship and keep people locked into the "church". What a set-up! I'm glad that I got out when I did. I feel sorry for the people still stuck in this horrible place. They need to wake up and realize that they are being robbed of their lives, families, goals, education, etc. So sad. As a former Baptist member and a granddaughter and niece to a late Baptist preacher, just recently I had a lot of my Bible questions answered by the WMSCOG members. Unbelievely, the WMSCOG has given me a more consistent and more truthful answers to my Bible questions than any other churches, faiths, or religions that I have attended. As a former Baptist member and current WMSCOG member, I believe in 2 Timothy 2:15. I totally disagree with Jeffrey (a former member of WMSCOG)who declared that this organization (WMSCOG) does not correctly quote historical facts and that WMSCOG is a scam. In my beliefs, this church does more what other churches offer as well as actively do. Like many other churches of other faiths I know, WMSCOG members actively goes out and preach the gospel; plant churches; actively pay tithes, prays, studies, and worship the Heavenly Father. Like Mormons (or LDS) and Roman Catholics, WMSCOG believes in the Heavenly Mother. Unlike other churches I have attended, the pastors of COG preaches and practices the same Basic Truths. As a soldier and as a former military recruiter stationed in South Korea, I see the WMSCOG like the military and not as a cult because all its services and practices are within uniformity much unlike other churches of other faiths-I have attended. Because of the Truths, I have woke up. I truly believe that WMSCOG expounds the Truths than any other churches I have attended. As a member of WMSCOG (recently), I believe it is not true at all that WMSCOG wants money. WMSCOG believes in saving souls.
