New Blog - Theology for the Masses

A few people I know have started a group theology blog called Theology for the Masses. The authors are:

The goal is to get a varried range of imput from Christians on theological matters. Everything should be covered from the purely academic, such as the nature of the trinity; to more practical matters, like the day to day actions of a Christian. We have some liberal and conservative writers, but we expect things will be in a civil tone. If you know anyone that would like to be added to the author's list, please let me know.

"Theology for the Masses" and you only have Christians?

ooohhh no, not a dreaded insider's blog.

Yeah, Luis, it is a Christian Theology blog that has... christian authors.

Big deal.

For the masses? it is pretty hard to figure that one out.

luis has a point.

i'd be interested in doing my "religious" thoughts on a more professional level.

It is what it is. It is a Christian theology blog with writers that cover a fairly wide range of Christian beliefs. Its purpose is not to discuss different religous perspectives.

I don't here any of you complaining that I don't have any conservatives writing on my blog.

It is not a religion blog. You all are more than welcome to write your religious thoughts - you can do it here, or on your blog.

sure it is what it is.

but i've been to bible college. 19 hours shy of my undergrad, i do have my associates. have travled to lima, peru, haiti twice, and lived in the dominican for 5 months all doing some sort of missions work. also preached quite a bit, youth ministered... so yeah. i've been quite exposed to it.

why wouldn't i have something to offer? it just seems a bit weird.

if that's the avenue you guys choose to go then maybe it's not something i'd be interested afterall. it will be exclusively for christians and by christians. it just seems a bit odd... you say it's not a religion blog but it's exactly that. if you want an exclusive (small?) audience then sure. yeah of course it'd have a bent towards christianity and i'd be obligated to keep my articles as such, geared to christianity.

i'm not sure i like your response dave. it's like "tough, my views are superior to yours. yours aren't like mine, we don't want to hear differing views (except within our own sect)." it's not like i'm some scruff from off the street either, right? you see? you want it specifically geared towards christianity, no problem... it'd be interesting i think. like i said, if you want it purely exclusive then i bet you'll have a smaller audience. if you want lively discussions with sometimes very dissenting views on a professional level then hey, i'm game.

upon seeing who it's actually hosted by (honzo) i realize there might be some reservations.

whatever, whichever... it's cool with me.

I think Dave's comment was directed at Luis's complaint.

I think that :
i'd be interested in doing my "religious" thoughts on a more professional level.

and
cover a fairly wide range of Christian beliefs

Is exactly what we are looking for. The stuff from our past is not what we are talking about, so I would be more than happy to send you login info, but I need your email address. I don't have it at work and can't find it on brendoman.com or whoisgringo.

Funny...because I said nothing of the sort.

All I was saying was that the purpose of the blog was to discuss Christian theology from varying Christian perspectives. It has been pretty clear from your posts that you are not currently coming from a Christian perspective. Instead you have been incredibly antagonistic towards Christianity. Which is fine - I understand where you are coming from, and have been in similar places at times. But I don't think that you would even say that you would be coming from a Christian perspective, but maybe I am wrong.

So, again, my comments had nothing to do with "superiority." It simply had to do with the fact that you have been very antagonistic to Christianity of late.

I apologize if you were offended.

Gringo - I am not trying to get into another argument, but I think that everyone around here would agree that you have been pretty antagonistic to Christianity of late.

If you don't see it like that, I apologize. But that is definitely how it has come across.

nur.

as opposed to... oh say.... how people have been antagonistic towards scientology around here? do you get me? seriously, if you want to talk about consistency then let's have a go.

like i said, any critical analysis of one's foundation for their life will sure enough cause someone to get defensive. it's hard... i know, i've been there.

I don't mind people poking fun at Christianity. There's lots of things to joke about. Just as there are things to joke about in Scientology and pretty much anything else. All Dave is saying Gringo is that you have been very critical of Christianity lately, nothing more. We're not saying that's wrong or anything. I don't mind it.

I very much get you, but we are not starting a blog about scientology. We are doing a blog about Christian theology.

I am not trying to start an argument about religion or about being antagonistic. I have no problem with your posts that are somewhat anatagonistic about Christianity - I actually appreciate them. And I often agree with a lot of it.

Again, I am not being defensive. I could care less about you questioning or attacking Christianity. I just didn't feel that this new blog was the place for that.
