A new Worms/Gunbound-esque game

Wild Cannon

Yes, it seems that someone had the bright idea of taking a lot of the elements from gunbound and combining them with worms. It has the same mechanics as both these games: you use the arrow keys to move left or right, or change your angle. Wind affects your shot as well as the power level used. Like Gunbound, you have 3 shots, each with different delay and damage levels.

Anyway, instead of mobiles you have tanks:

The catch and hardest part about this game is that each tank has 'fuel'. Moving and shooting uses up fuel, so you have to manage that as well as kill the enemies. One ability of certain tanks is the ability to drain fuel, which is kinda cool. ;

You automatically get 50,000g at the beginning. You use G to buy items before each round. Yes there is heal: type A which helas 40 and type B, which heals 100 but costs your whole turn, so abuse of heal is kind of countered. Also, there's stealth and an EMP as well as the usual dual and cannonball, aming other offensive and defensive items.

There's night and day in this too. Night being the time you should attack as you get a 10% bonus. Once again, fuel management is key.

This game is relatively new, no more than 3 weeks old, so it is not without its bugs. The camera is somewhat lacking and angles aren't marked, so you have to use your instinct. Whether this is a positive or negative aspect is up to you.
Although that means empty servers with little or no lag.

Your first game may or may not be fun depending on which Tank you get. I dont see any one that is terribly flawed, just some are obviously meant for different purposes...bunging etc~

To play, download the client (you have to be logged in to download it), and open the home website in IE (yes, IE), login and press "start game", on the site (Located at the top left hand corner).

The user interface is great, and it's surprsing to find a game this new with such a refined UI. The best part about it is the "windowed mode" option (which you enable by clicking "windowed mode" in game) that allows you to put the game in a window. Duh. Handy if you have AIM or IRC or something open.

More detailed info can be found on the sie.

***Some people have had problems signing up. Try using IE with cookies enabled to try it. Also it asks to install something which you need to do to play it.
