Andrew's Wife
October 17th, 2005I'd post the link, but you're not allowed in without a paid membership. I am Andrew's other half--Melanie.
A couple of months ago I started selling heavily on eBay. And tonight I made my hundredth sale. Maybe "I" is not the right pronoun, since Andrew has made a significant contribution to the business, and about 20% of the items we've sold have been his items (records, t-shirts, his surround sound system, etc.).
The other 80% has been mine, and a growing majority of those sales have been clothing. So there's this website called Here Comes the Stork, which was started by a woman who was pregnant on bed rest when she started her eBay business. HCTS is a resource for other moms who want to get rich like her, and now she is very rich because she has roped in hundreds of us to join her website to the tune of $5/month.
So everyday, I spend way too much time at my message boards, getting ideas about what to sell, talking about our current auctions, our kids, and whatever. Today I went shopping at Goodwill and bought a bunch of stuff for resale on eBay, and I couldn't wait to get home and share this information with the other storks. I had questions about the sizing of a little girls Gap fleece, the fuzz on a JCrew sweater (that I bought for $1.61), and a latent question about a little boys wool coat that I'd bought last week at another consignment store. Don't even get me started on the MIRACULOUS STAIN REMOVER they taught me about!!
I know **YAWN**, right?
But for the gals there this is the stuff of our lives. I love to help the other ladies with their questions on International Shipping and other such minutia. Most days one of us has had a frustration with a buyer or an auction bomb, and no one can understand like the storks!
And tomorrow (per a stork tip) I will be hunting numerous wholesale stores for a $15 toy, Dora's Talking Friend Diego doll, which is selling on eBay for close to $100 a pop.
I LOVE it!!
