I'm going to make a top ten albums list now.

I told Erika and she said, "You boys and your lists. It seems like every time I read your blogs you have some new list on there."

Hey Andrew, I enjoyed reading the top 5. There's a cool Eric Davidson Interview at this web site: http://www.markprindle.com/davidson-i.htm I mention this because Davidson mentions that he likes "Scared Straight" but the rest of the band sees it as the weakest Turks album. I was suprised to hear that because I like that LP as well. I guess that album was really recorded as a demo and Epitaph put it out. It's definately in my top 3 turks albums. I'd have to go with Destroy Oh Boy! as my number 1. I still love that album. ALso I have a hard time between the Stooges Fun House and Raw power for best album. Right now I'd say Fun House is the best even though Raw Power is a classic. I've even heard people argue that the band members are different on these 2 records so you can't compare them but whatever...to each his own right?!

Kyle- haha, Melanie says the same thing! Can't wait to see your list.

Ken- I never heard that about Scared Straight being demos. Interesting. It's tough, though, because I was just listening to some songs from the last three records, and I tend to forget how good they are until I hear them again. I stand by Scared Straight being in my top 5, though.

I think the Funhouse album is brilliant as well, but for me it doesn't hold a candle to Raw Power. I suppose I like that Raw Power is just straight rock and Funhouse is a little weirder, you know?

Anyway, I'd love to see what would be on your list too. I just started listening to that comp you sent me, I'll let you know what I think.

Yeah...I could come up with a list but I've always felt like it changes from day to day for me. Also I'd have to have a punk list, jazz list, 50's rnb...etc. I can't narrow it down to one all inclusive 10 song list. I can't figure out who my number 1 would be either. Maybe I'll try and just do punk rock and see what I come up with. Or my top ten country albums might be fun. A ten way tie for first and then 9 other bands! Did you know Bill Randt plays drums on the last Zodiac Killers LP? It looks like Greg Lowery has ended Rip Off and doing bands after last summers ZK's LP. He's a real estate mogul or something?

I had heard that about Bill, yeah. Didn't know about Lowery, though. I was looking at the Rip Off site not too long ago...when did he decide to end it? I just found my poster from the Rip Off Rumble during our basement remodeling.

I'm still working on #6-10 on my all time best albums ever list.

I was just passing some time before work and came across your list. I agree with you about the incredible difficulty of culling 10 albums out of all the good music that has ever been recorded, and firmly understand your punk rock slant, which I also share but I do believe that there are a couple that should be placed in this list. Husker Du's Zen Arcade, The Clash's first album, and Never Mind the Bullocks were all great albums on their own, to say the least. But they were not just great albums, they were instrumental in influencing musicians to come. Yeah I know the Ramones were the beginning, but musically speaking they do not compare. Don't get me wrong their attitude was also instrumental. Just thought I would drop a line and contribute my thoughts.

Steve,
I appreciate the comment and apologize for not responding. You list some good selections. Although I thought about "Never Mind the Bollocks," I didn't want to pick anything solely because of its influence. Otherwise, I would have picked the Ramones first LP (who I like more than the Clash). I actually feel bad, because I only have the Clash's first album, and have never really given them a fair shake.

Oh, and I'm still working on #6 - 10. They are proving to be more dificult to nail down.
