Saturday Random Ten

I guess I should just make it my Saturday Random Ten...I never quite seem to have time on Friday.
Burst - Anthrax: I had "Sound of White Noise" on cassette when I was in high school, and a couple years ago found it for 99 cents at a record store in Kirksville, MO. Great buy.
Opposite - Crash Dog: Again, great band.
Rooster - Alice in Chains: Alice in Chains are one of the few bands of its era and genre (I hate saying grunge) that I still find comppletely listenable. Along with Mudhoney and Nirvana, Alice In Chains' songs have not lost anything.
Run - Project 86: From their first album, which finds them striving too hard to sound like Rage Against the Machine. I still like the album, though, as their songs are better lyrically than most bands in the harder vein.
Q: How Many Punks - Dillinger Four: I downloaded this off the label's website for my Chicago comp. I know I've seen the band play live, but I never owned any of their recordings.
One Demon to Another - The Crucified: Mark Salomon's band before Stavesacre. What a difference. While Stavesacre is more like modern rock, The Crusified, on this album, were straight-up hardcore.
Mindbender - The Crucified: Wow, another Crucified song! On this album, "Pillars of Humanity," the band sound more like a thrash band. Great, great band.
You Can't Judge a Book By It's Cover - Bo Diddley: I bought the Chess boxed sets for Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters, and both are fantastic collections. I still want to get the Chuck Berry Chess boxed set.
Pretty Lightning - New Bomb Turks: Best band ever. From The Night Before the Day the Earth Stood Still," their last proper album, "Pretty Lightning" is a catchy song.
Bad Religion - Bad Religion: One of three versions of the song on a remastered "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" Bad Religion are the godfathers of melodic hardcore.
Now with 3,101 songs in my iTunes, I'm getting a little more variety in my playlist. It's good to see some blues mixed in with the hard rock/ metal/ hardcore/ punk rock.

Nirvana is more than a cover band, but I know that nothing I say will convince anyone who feels otherwise. They seem to have this polarizing effect on people. I happen to think they are one of, if not the best rock n roll band of all time. Arguable? Of course.
I think Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden all got old. I still like portions of Badmotorfinger, though. I don't like Audioslave for the same reasons I don't like Rage. Derivative, derivative, derivative. Sure, Morello makes interesting sounds come out his guitar, but the songs do not sound original. Also don't like Mad Season; kind of boring.
Thanks for reading and responding, though. I like "arguing" about music.
