Album of the Day - The Melvins "Stoner Witch"

After writing about the Melvins in a previous entry, I listened the the Melvin's "Stoner Witch" this morning. The comparisons I made held up a little better than I thought after giving this disc another spin. Even within this one album, the Melvins go from a heavy, sludgy strain of metal (or what popular music journalists liked to call grunge) to what can only be called noise. They go from incessantly catchy and melodic to feedback-drenched squelches of sound. It's all very well-made and infectious.
Tonight, I will listen again to the self-titled album released on Boner Records. It is a single half-hour track that has six different movements. It is a startling piece of rock n' roll
