Working Weekend

I decided to be productive this weekend. I started off by painting on Friday while I waited for the Gas Company (again) to come and check the meter. So, while I was stuck at home, I did touch-up paint in the bedroom--and realized the white of the trim is not the same as the white on the ceiling. Great. So now I need to touch up the ceiling. I also spent some time painting in the bathroom. There are built-in shelves in there (weird!) and they were looking kind of tired, so I updated the white paint on those. I spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV. When Ric got home, I'm thinking we probably went out to eat, but I don't remember very well. We ended the night watching The Simpsons Movie at the uptown theater. I haven't been there in ages! It was pretty old-fashioned and the sound quality sucked, but since it wasn't a movie I was dying to see, it didn't matter to me.

Saturday (DAVID'S BIRTHDAY) I slept in, worked on bills, showered, and went to do laundry at my parents' place. My dad, who spent Thursday night at the hospital because they were watching his shortness of breath, seemed to be okay. He's just getting weaker, I think, but there wasn't anything life-threatening that I'm aware of. Saturday night Ric and I went driving around uptown to check out the area. As it turns out, there seems to be an abundance of Japanese restaurants around town, so we went to one, where I confused them by asking for rolls without avocado (allergic). Food was good. We then walked from the restaurant back home, where Ric picked up his pipe, and we walked back up. We ended up at Ambrose's for a couple of drinks, and we ended up talking to the owner, who was having a slow night, for a long time. We drove back down to Albertson's for a couple more drinks and settled in to watch some tv until late. It's nice to know that our house is close enough for an easy walk uptown. The only problem is that there aren't any good bars! At least there are the pizza places. Speaking of which, Ric was really happy to find out that they play NHL games at Ambrose's, so I'm pretty sure we'll be going there often come fall.

Sunday we went to church with the Andersons and my sister. We talked the usual crazy things like guns and pottery with the Andersons, then caught the latest family news from my sister. I'm not going to post details here, but my oldest sister and her husband are now legally separated. Yikes. And one nephew is coming down for a visit next month. We'll see how that goes. We did some quick shopping and eating and spent the rest of the day at home. I did dishes, watered the lawn, painted another bathroom shelf, did more touch-up in the bedroom, and detailed about half of the Mini, all while listening to The Count of Monte Cristo (my latest audiobook selection from the library, and also a favorite). I think I listened to half the book this weekend!

Up this week: Not a lot. Hopefully we'll get more progress done on the house, which is driving me nuts right now because it's still a mess. I have to work on the car a lot more too for the show on Wednesday.
