Now that the Jerico NUTS! campaign has proven to be a success, folks at Ain't It Cool are organizing a Mars Bars campaign to send as many Mars bars as possible to the president of the CW as a plea to renew the show. These fine folks have also put together several campaigns and are working hard to raise awareness. We'll see how all this pans out.
Last night I had the pleasure of watching Trevor Hoffman get his 500th save. It was pretty cool, especially since it was a win over the Dodgers. It was also the first time I've been to Petco Park, which was amazing, and the first Padres game I've been to in years. When I was growing up, baseball was a very important part of my life. I went to countless Padres games. My room was full of various memorabilia. When my dad died, that all kind of died too. I stopped following baseball all together. When I got to the game yesterday, I realized the only player I knew was still playing for the Padres was Hoffman. I sounded like an old fogey telling my friends about the game I went to back in the late 80's when the Padres were playing the Braves and Dale Murphy hit a game winning home run over Tony Gwynn's head. "Who the hell is Dale Murphy?" my friend asked. This quickly brought me back to reality. Almost all the players I grew up on have retired and I don't really have any new favorites to replace them. I had a blast last night hanging out and watching the game. Hopefully this will be the start of a new wave of fandom for me, a fresh start. I'm keeping my brown and orange hat though, no matter how outdated it makes me look.
