Hi kids, just dropping in to say hello and quickly recap the weekend. I'm not feeling so hot today, so I need to go home and lie down.
Friday night was a nice one. Ric and I had a good meal at Panera and went to PetSmart to buy the cat some toys. Poor guy has been mopey for attention, so when we came home with tons of fun things for him to play with, he was instantly in a better mood (and continues to be). We played Wii for a while too. It's been fun making Miis of our friends, which we spend just as much time doing as actually playing games.
Saturday after sleeping in, I headed over to do laundry and play Wii with my sister. We named the console the WeWii. Heheheh. After a nice dinner at Gaetano's with my sister, we headed out with Ric to see Spider-Man 3. Not great, but not terrible. I was with it for the action more than anything.
Sunday Ric and I accidentally slept in. We went to Lowe's to buy a new faucet to replace the one in our upstairs bathroom. I spent a lot of the day relaxing and reading, but also getting frustrated. I swear, every time I go to make a dessert for an event, I'm always short a few ingredients. Same thing happened yesterday, so in between baking the crust of some lemon bars and making the filling, I had to go to the grocery store. Got the lemon bars made, wrapped a gift for Amy & Ryan, and was ready for today. And when today came, the bottom fell out on the gift bag, so no present for the happy couple until the wedding! It'll keep them in suspense. Oh, and after all the cooking, Ric and I watched Die Hard 2. More on that later.
Well, that's my five-minute recap of the weekend. This week doesn't hold many plans except Keane on Friday at the Greek, and Amy's Bachelorette dinner on Saturday! Looking forward to both.
I guess I'm in the minority on Spiderman 3. Judging from the crowd's reaction to the trailer, I'm also in the minority of those wanting to see Across the Universe, which I thought looked incredible. While it's probably not my favorite of the Spiderman films, I still dug the movie quite a bit. I thought the actors did a great job, especially Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, and James Franco. As far as the whole emo Peter Parker thing, I thought it was silly, but that's why I liked it. Remember the "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head?" montage in Spiderman 2? I thought this was a great counterpoint to that. It was a good way to communicate the effects of the alien symbiote on Peter. It was also pretty funny. Venom was stinking awesome. I think they needed him in the movie since Sandman is essentially unbeatable and difficult to really fight.
Also, I have to disagree with Honzo about the Stan Lee and Bruce Campbell cameos. First off, they've appeared in the previous two, so why not this one? Also, I thought it was a good shout out to the fanboys. When both appeared on screen, the midnight crowd I was with went nuts. Also, Campbell's french waiter was freaking hilarious. My friend Phil pointed out it was a pretty spot on tribute to John Cleese's waiter in The Meaning of Life, not to mention Peter Sellers. So, yes, I really enjoyed the movie. Apparently more than most folk. It was a good way to kick off the summer season. I did realize that I'm almost getting to old for midnight screenings. Not the staying up late part, but dealing with the crowd. There were a couple moments where I just wanted to yell at kids like an old man. I guess this is growing up....
Sorry for no posting. That's what the team is for, when I slack, but if the team is busy or doing their own stuff, then this place just looks sad. And that is all on me. I've been in a weird funk lately. I feel like I don't have anything to say, that no one cares if I do have something to say, and random things like that. The only really productive things I've been doing lately is school and some pop.vox related stuff. We had our show at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday which went very well. We even got a certificate of appreciation, which was a first. I've spent a lot of time just reading various books. I've also spent a lot of time trying to figure out my next course of action. I'm going to be applying at the school district soon but I still have to come up with a plan to get me through the summer. I've done all right selling stuff for some of my friends on eBay. That's pretty much what has been going on with me and why I've ignored the blog. Sorry.
I don't know what I was doing yesterday, but I had made it a point to make sure I post a birthday shout out to good ol' Luis. Somehow I forgot to do that. So happy B-Day man. Also, Gringo isn't on MySpace anymore so I don't know when his birthday is exactly, but I know it is coming up soon. So happy b-day to you too as well. Heck, happy b-day to everyone. But Luis is quite teh awesome, so I thought I'd give him some special props.
