Hi!

Wow, I've been so busy with trying to keep myself occupied this week that I've forgotten to post. Mind you, I'm only busy with trying to keep myself occupied. I'm not all that occupied with the exception of some software demonstrations we've been sitting through. I'm in my 2 week lull before summer business picks up with registration. Next week looks plenty busy, but this week I'm doing monotonous little things like checking to make sure I printed out all of the grades from fall or making sure filing is up to date. Yawn. Spring break is always slow.

I've been uploading photos too. I'm still working on it, but I've got up to December 2006 updated at the gallery, so check it out if you're interested. That's including our awesome trip to Boston in October.

The weekend was slow but good. We mostly stayed at home watching movies or Arrested Development (we finally got through the final season). Thanks to Christmas and my birthday, we had a lot of Blockbuster gift cards, so we went shopping there. Turns out Blockbuster has an incredibly limited selection, so I just had to go with what I could find, although I do like the movies: Intolerable Cruelty, Monster House, Talladega Nights, The New World, Night Watch (haven't seen yet), and The Matador.

For Easter we had a meal at Ric's parents' place on Saturday, and one at my parents' place on Sunday. Honestly, I was getting irritated with dealing with my own family because there was a lot of passive-aggressive stuff going on, not to mention the house looks worse every time I visit (because of my dad's on-going project of painting the house at age 77). At least I won the game of Scrabble and the food was good.

Church was what I looked forward to the most this weekend, but we ended up sitting in a row in front of a person with a mental problem who croaked like a frog every few seconds for the entire service. We couldn't concentrate at all, so I was pretty disappointed. At least we got to hang out with the Andersons a little bit. Baby Emily was very cute in her Easter dress, and she behaved beautifully in the "big church" service (we usually go to the satellite service, which is more relaxed about noise).

I've been on an exercise kick lately, doing as much as I can whenever I can. Since I figured out that my back can handle jogging more if I give myself consistent breaks, I've been jogging half a mile and walking a quarter in cycles, which is working out well. I actually got up to 3.5 miles, which is more than I was able to handle in the past. I even went to the creek park and jogged half the park (the uphill part) while walking the other half a few times. It's been a lot of fun. I've managed to work out 6 days out of 7 this past week, so I feel like I'm making good progress in strengthening my back and knees.

Well, that's it for now. Exciting, isn't it?

"A Happy Birthday" by Ted Kooser

Here's a lovely poem for today by Nebraskan and former National Poet Laureate Ted Kooser.

This evening, I sat by an open window
and read till the light was gone and the book
was no more than a part of the darkness.
I could easily have switched on a lamp,
but I wanted to ride this day down into night,
to sit alone and smooth the unreadable page
with the pale gray ghost of my hand.
