Sweetie strikes again, this time with some flowers. Crap, I need to think of something to do for my sweetie tomorrow! So far, she's had a decorated office, her favorite drink, her favorite snack, and a pretty bouquet of spray roses.

Colin and Liz are now officially parents. Crazy! Emily Elizabeth Audrey was born yesterday around 3 in the afternoon, weighing a whopping 9lbs, 3oz, and measuring 21 inches. Liz called me this morning and it sounds like she's doing well. She's thinking at this rate that she'll be at church on Sunday, which is insane, but I don't mind because I'll get to meet the new kid. :)

Car's in the shop at the dealer for a dent and fixing some loose weatherstripping. It has to be there overnight, so they rent out a car to me. And THIS is the car they walk me to, out of all the cars in the lot. All I could say when I saw it was, "That's a big car!" Seriously--it's twice the size of my car! I had to sit in it and adjust the seats and mirrors until everything was perfect before I could even comprehend leaving the lot. And then when I took it home for lunch, I couldn't get it in my carport stall because my spot is next to a wall. I guess I'm gonna have to park it on the street tonight. Here's hoping I can get it back to Irvine again tomorrow without any damage! :)
I'd like to share with you a site I've been reading for a while, but have never linked to. It is all kinds of stuff, a blog written and maintained by John Kricfalusi, creator of Ren and Stimpy.
I'm not an artist, but I have a great appreciation for animation and cartooning, and John's lessons on layout and color help me more critically analyze the things I view.
At times, John K picks specific modern works of animation for specific criticism.
Then there's his excellent criticisms of the TV and film industry itself, which I tend to think carry over pretty well into other popular arts:
Here are just a few preposterous beliefs of current executives in animation:
Someone With Talent Who is A Natural Entertainer Needs Someone Who Has Never Entertained Anyone To Tell Him How to Do His Job
A Cartoon Character Has Inherent Value
"Adult" Cartoons Have To Look Like They Were Drawn By Kids
So if you enjoy animation and cartooning, do yourself a favor and check out all kinds of stuff.
