The weeks are going by so quickly these days that it feels like I just wrote last weekend's summary. Wow.
So anyway. Friday afternoon there weren't any movies showing at a good time, and there were quarterfinals going on in the World Cup, so the choice was obvious: get some cash for the weekend, get a bagel sandwich from Bonjour Bagels, and settle down to watch some soccer with Pip. We watched both games (Germany vs. Portugal and Italy vs. Ukraine) and both were very entertaining. By the time I had watched both games and taken a nap, it was later in the evening. Ric and I went out to eat at Ruby's. Don't order their veggie platter - they don't clean the vegetables enough! We headed home early since it was too late to go to a movie.
Saturday I worked out with Ruth in the morning, went back to bed, got up and watched some soccer (poor England!), went to do laundry at my parents' place and watched more soccer (down with Brazil! YES!!!!), came back home for a while, and then went to see Superman Returns with Ric and Jenny (as always, review to come). We got back after 1 and I couldn't sleep because of the heat, so we stayed up watching old Star Trek episodes until 3 or later. I got a lot of reading done too.
Sunday we went to church, had some Pollo Loco, and came home. I wanted to see a non-blockbuster film, so Erika and I went to see The Heart of the Game in Irvine (RTC for this one as well). Ric and I did laundry and I washed my car at his parents' place, where it was nice and coooooool. :) I came home and finished the next Robert Jordan book, which I've been working on for a couple of months. Finally!
Today was a productive day. I had my first cardiologist appointment for my quick heartrate issues. As always, the doctor doesn't care and assumes nothing is wrong, but he agreed to do some tests. So towards the end of the month I'll be getting an echocardiogram and wearing the whatsit box to monitor my heart activity. That was at Whittier Presbyterian, but unfortunately I couldn't visit the Neals since visiting hours hadn't started yet. So I went grocery shopping, had some lunch, took a nap with Pip for a couple of hours, dropped of some dry cleaning, traded in some used CDs for cash, got some Starbucks, and visited the newly enlarged Neal family. Cosette was pretty quiet and cute when I saw her, since she slept most of the time. I like her little eyelashes. I came home to make Ric dinner, and we'll probably go out to yet another movie (it's just so hot lately) even though we've seen almost everything out there.
Tomorrow: Germany vs. Italy on the big screen! Ruth and I are going to watch the semifinal at the Egyptian. The night's plans are unknown, but chances are we'll end up in Fullerton watching the local fireworks show. That's always a good time. Happy 4th, everyone!
