CNN.com - Original 'Star Wars' films coming to DVD - May 4, 2006
This time, "Star Wars," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" will be available individually and appear on DVD exactly as they did in their respective theatrical runs in 1977, 1980 and 1983.
Each release, distributed by 20th Century Fox, will be a two-disc set that also includes the digitally tweaked 2004 edition.
The DVDs will be available only through December 31.
I'm soooo glad I didn't pay money for the DVD's the first time. I still think this is an evil ploy to make some more cash but I'm happy.
I'm lazy as hell today so I'm just copying the info straight from iTunes!
The output from iTunes could look a little nicer if you ask me.
I always like to see how people arrive at my blog. It lets me know which of my posts are ranked highest on search engines, and it provides some entertainment as well. Today I saw the best one ever, though:
"I'm afraid to be seen buying the brokeback mountain dvd"
I find it funny how some people will entire questions or problems in a complete sentence, believing that the search engine will somehow be able to understand what their specific concern is if they use correct English. To the person who performed this search, though, I have some words of assurance.
Watching Brokeback Mountain doesn't make you gay any more than watching Spiderman makes you a nerdy superhero. Besides, who cares if some strangers in a store think you're gay? That's their hang-up, not yours.
This is great. Donald Rumsfeld was giving a talk in Atlanta and Ray McGovern, a man in the audience, began a rather pointed line of questioning. He started by accusing Rumsfeld of lying:
RUMSFELD: Well, first of all, I haven’t lied. I did not lie then. Colin Powell didn’t lie. He spent weeks and weeks with the Central Intelligence Agency people and prepared a presentation that I know he believed was accurate, and he presented that to the United Nations. the president spent weeks and weeks with the central intelligence people and he went to the american people and made a presentation. i’m not in the intelligence business. they gave the world their honest opinion. it appears that there were not weapons of mass destruction there.
QUESTION: You said you knew where they were.
RUMSFELD: I did not. I said I knew where suspect sites were and –
QUESTION: You said you knew where they were Tikrit, Baghdad, northeast, south, west of there. Those are your words.
RUMSFELD: My words — my words were that — no, no, wait a minute, wait a minute. Let him stay one second. Just a second.
The video is even less kind to Rumsfeld. You can see him standing in stunned silence for several long seconds upon hearing his own words repeated back to him. Eventually, when he realizes that facts are not going to help him, he falls back on emotional appeals about the troops and assertions that "We believed he had those weapons." As if merely believing that something is true makes it so. I like what McGovern said: "Come on, these people aren’t idiots. They know the story."
Better late than never, I say, for these guys to be called out on all their misleading claims and outright lies.
I finished up the Adrian Chamber of Commerce website last week and yesterday I got approval for pointing the domain at the new version. I still have a copy of the old version of the site if you want to compare.
I finished another cool project yesterday and it should be going live in the next day or two, at which time I'll tell you more about it.
Next I'll be upgrading brendoman.com to the newest version of b2evolution. I'm working on upgrading all the skins we use right now.
