Troy, Morrissey, Etc.

I forgot to mention that I saw Troy on Friday. I really liked it. The performances were great. Peter O' Toole was the man. Brad Pitt did a fine job as did Sean Bean. I think that would be cool if they made a Ulysses movie. Part of me was waiting for Eric Bana to Hulk up and beat the crap out of everyone, but I got that out of my system pretty quickly. He did a good job as well. I liked the sets and costumes. Like Roland said, I thought the music was a little over-dramatic at times, but overall this was a great summer flick. Heck, it was a great flick period.

Yesterday I took my mom to the airport. She's in New Jersey training for her new job. Her old medical transcription job was outsourced. Yeah, she was bummed and complained a little, but then she moved on and got a new medical transcription job. Anyway, on the way to the airport we stopped at a mall and I bought the new Morrissey album. I really like it. Many of the songs are politically charged, but not all of them. My favorite song on the CD right now is probably "First of the Gang to Die". I really liked the transition between that song and the song before it. I just dig the guy's voice. I'm waiting to hear what Jeri has to say about the CD and I don't care what Roland thinks.

I'm heading out to Moberly this evening to see Palmer play. Too bad I'm not really sure what time the show is at. I finished reading Leo Laporte's 2004 Almanac this morning. While there was a lot of useful stuff in there, most of it is outdated, even at the time it was published. It's worth a read though. I also read Battle Royale last week. I thought it was better than the movie. Things made more sense and the characters were better developed. But that's true of most books and movies. I thought the ending to the book was more exciting, especially the final battle between Kazuo and Shogo, Shuya, and Noriko. I'm thinking they might not have had enough money and time to film it the way it happened in the book (really cool car chase sequence and some other cool stuff). It would have been a cool sequence though. Anyway, it was a really fast read for me. I recommend it.

Break the Chain

I hate getting email chain letters. They're almost always false. I have enjoyed debunking a few of them, and that just got a lot easier. Here's a website devoted to exposing faike chain letters: BreakTheChain.org

Dogma Figures

I normally am not into figures, but I'm definitely going to have to snag some of these. They're definitely the coolest looking figures View Askew has put out so far.
